Today, we will be creating a "sound-scape" using our voices and things within the classroom to portray a scene.
1. You will be using your voices and things that you can find around you in the classroom to create the sounds and noises.
2. Have different group members layer the sounds to create a much richer experience.
3. Use dynamics (a mixture of soft sounds, medium and loud...gradually getting louder or softer to show movement)
4. There is to be no words (or very minimal words)
5. Looking for 20 - 30 seconds of sound. We will try to guess which one you chose!

- the rainforest
- a thunderstorm rolling in

Monday, November 2nd: Complex Sentences Review - Cut and Paste Activity
First, let's review the format of writing different types of complex sentences. Remember - there are two ways. Please copy this down.
1. Where the subordinating conjunction can be found in the middle of the sentence holding the independent clause (complete thought) and dependent clause (sentence fragment) together. This type of complex sentence DOES NOT NEED A COMMA.
Ex) You do not need a swimsuit until we get to the pool. (Until is the subordinating conjunction)
2. The sentence starts with a subordinating conjunction, and the dependent clause is first then followed by the independent clause. This type of sentence MUST HAVE A COMMA separating the two clauses.
Ex) Until we get to the pool, you do not need a swimsuit. (Until is now at the beginning, so we need a comma)

Just as I was revelling in my escape I suddenly heard a ghastly noise directly in front of me ...Screeeech! There they were. The police! Two more cars screamed past my car They were all around me, I was blocked in. My stomach flipped like a gymnast on a trapeeze. just then i remembered the new Car Jets 2000 that Geeves had installed on the cars last maintenance visit. "yes!" I shouted. Loudly, the police sirens howled as I fumbled around looking for the switch. The police were coming closer and I didnt have much time. I found it! Bbbzzzzzzz. The car came alive! I watched their astonished faces as the car floated up towards the sky. In a flash I was gone! All thanks to the Car Jets 2000. I knew they were never going to catch me I thougt to myself as I wiped the sweat from my eyes.

Today is our work period for assignment #2... We will be using a "bubble" graphic organizer to help us plan what we are going to talk about in each of our 4 paragraphs under the topic "Family and Home". The questions prompts below are only suggestions, you can write about anything you like.
Requirements:
- each paragraph MUST have an appropriate topic sentence to introduce that paragraph.
- each paragraph MUST have a MINIMUM of 8-10 sentences (topic, supporting details and concluding sentence). More details will earn into the level 4 category.
